Screw You, Blogger!

Anyone else out there having trouble commenting on posts lately?

For me, it started about 3 weeks ago. I have been unable to leave my usual witty and heartfelt comments (like “Show me your Hoo-Ha’s!”, for instance) on about 20 percent of the blogs that I normally read.

It actually started before I left for vacation. I had checked the Blogger Help forums at the time, and it looked like a lot of people were affected and that they were working on it.

Well, it’s now been almost a month and I’m still having a right bitch of a time leaving comments sometimes.

On SOME blogs, after I write my comment and hit submit, it takes me to the blogger log-in screen (like I wasn’t logged in, even though I am!). Then I log in again, and it takes me back to my comment which has not yet been posted. Then I hit “submit” again, and have to log in again, which takes me back to my comment again, where I can hit “submit” again. And again. And again.

Well, I for one am going to take a stand and state now for the record that this new log in procedure sucks! So far I’ve clicked the “submit” button about 4,000 times and I still haven’t been able to leave a comment yet. This is by far the best online security feature I have ever seen!

Anyway, I’ve done some more digging on the forums, and for those of you who DON’T know, the problem seems to be with blogs that don’t pop up a new window when you try to leave your comments. Frankly, I don’t know why everyone doesn’t pop up a new window, like I do here, cause it’s much easier in my opinion, but those of you hard-asses who don’t have a pop up are the ones causing all the trouble.

I’d like to say that Blogger is working on a fix, but they probably aren’t since it’s been going on for weeks now and no admin ever replies on the forums. Some people have said that if you uncheck the “remember me” checkbox, that will fix the problem for now, but I’m doubtful. I’m also devilishly handsome, but I fear that’s not going to help me this time.

Anyway, I’ll try the “remember me” thingy today as I do my weekly blog-reading-roundup, but if you don’t get a comment from me again this week, that’s why.

So, you can either change your blog to have your comment box pop up in a new window, or NOT have me hit on you and tell you how hot you are in your in your comments until this is resolved. Which would be a shame for you guys…. I know how me showing you some attention really brightens up your day.

Yep...me too. Folks think I don't care about ehay they've got to say, but I do.

My google shit, in general has been acting the fool. TMobile too. Bastards. If this keeps up, I'll have to spend my day actually working. Fuck that.

fuck that, indeed!

unchecking "remember me" DOES fix it.

where'd your blog go, heff?

You need to get your ass over to my blog and do whatever it takes to tell me I look pretty today, dammit.

Wait, so what do I have to do so that you can't comment on my blog anymore? Because that would be wonderful!

Slyde said...

sybil: on my way, sexy!

earl: you would miss the FUCK outta me!

Since I enabled Disqus commenting I've had no problems AND I can blacklist spammers, trolls and stalkers from leaving comments. I'll never go back!

i used disquis for a bit back when i was hosting my own site before i switched to blogger.

i liked disquis, but it just seemed like a pain sometimes to have people log into yet another system to comment.

I haven't had trouble commenting, but I've been hearing about a lot of people who have. Google and Blogger knows they dare not fuck with me!
I got a big scare when they lost those posts a few weeks ago. I "deported" my blog to Wordpress so I have a backup.

I've been ok with commenting after that first weekend blogger blew up. Some comments I have seen have said to download Google Chrome?? No clue here.

I got your sweet comment today, handsome! xoxox

Having exactly the same problem. And the blogs I view do pop out in a new window. Sometimes the best thing is to post it as Name/URL- that's what I have been doing.

I don't like pop up windows though; I always end up having a ton of comment forms and I forget which person wrote what.

(Yeah, I multitask. Whatever.)

Someone needs to send the Blogger headquarters poo cookies. They've been such bitches lately, I even thought of making them a demotivational poster.

Wait but *mine* doesn't pop up in a new window! And you're able to not see my pictures just fine!!!! (Which, btw, I'm still figuring out how to change).

OK... I changed it to a pop up window; you are right, your comments do make my day.

I have been having trouble leaving comments sometimes too. Sometimes I just use anonymous and then write my name somewhere in the comment and it seems to work.

I am thinking it would be hilarious (but very annoying) if I have trouble posting this comment since it is about having trouble posting comments.

alley i'm glad to see its not just me.

mark: you just scared me a little when you talked tough like that.

barb: your site is still one of the ones i have trouble with. with firefox i was able to comment, but with ie, no dice still.

marlene: xoxo :)

nes: really? i havent once had a problem with a blog that pops up. but i have heard that putting the blogger url does help.

lemons: you dont like the pop up window? i LOVE the pop up window! and here i thought we were so similar :)

jill: yeah, the picture thing is a different issue. thats because my job filters out web hosting. im not sure how you post your pics, but my place stops them.

susan: thats a girl :)

radio: yup, ive done the anon thing too.. thats the only way i could see to get a comment in. but yesterday i used firefox and that seemed to be ok.

i'm with you, fuck blogger. blogger has been a thorn in my lonely e-hermit side for years now. recently got my blog mysteriously "removed" with all my thousands of followers gone. i died three deaths that day. (okay, exaggerated a bit with the *thousands*...)

peace :)

I thought it was just me! Thank jeebus, it was just Blogger fucking about.

I had to change my cookies setting thing on the internet explorer options (impressed with my technical jive talk?) and that seemed to fix it.

Although nobody has commented on my blog for days. Weeks, even. Bastards.

Slyde said...

heff: it says im not authorized to view your blog anymore? what, are you printing out the formula for plutonium nukes in there?

phoenix: ouch, that sucks! i dont know how long you've been around here, but if youve been here awhile then you've read about my OWN issues with blogger. Last July suddenly about 25 percent of my readers could no longer see the site. it just recently got fixed about 2 months ago.

livesby: yeah, they told me the cookies thing too, and i tried that and it did fuck-all for me. glad that it worked for YOU, at least...

I just "locked everyone out" instead of deleting it.

Safe Preservation, if you will.

Yes, I am seriously considering Wordpress. But it's such a pain to move everything across. *sigh*

Thankfully you still seem to be able to comment on my blog, so I won't go without my regular dose of double entendre.

Slyde said...

heff: i feel like theres a party going on there and im not invited - sniff- :(

tam: double entendre? me? naaaah....

I am having exactly the same problem... and it's driving me nuts too.

Well, I managed to get pictures up without hosting them on flickr...but then I ended up posting them to flickr anyway! It took me like forever and half though, because I had to do it picture by picture. I think I'll get faster at it though if I do it this way next time. At any rate, you should be able to see the most recent ones! Unfortunately, I accidentally deleted the ones of the dead alligator head. Oh well.
