Since this is my last working week of the year before taking my yearly Christmas stay-cation , I’ve been ESPECIALLY busy around the office.
And by “busy”, I mean that I am fucking around on the internet much more than usual.
Today I found THIS one…
It’s basically an IMDB movie-ish kinda site, but I have had a great deal of fun looking at the listing, by year, of what movies opened up on which days.
Then I thought it would be fun to see what movie came out the closest to the day I was born (without going over).
For me, it was the wonderful Doris Day/Burt Landcaster classic With Six You Get Eggroll!
Barf.
But I’m STILL pissed that if only my birthday was 2 weeks later, my movie would have been Night Of The Living Dead, which would have been oh so much more fitting.
Ok, Feedback time! What movie came out closest to the day YOU were born?
Spolier: I already looked up Earl’s….
It was Gone With The Wind.

Uh, Mine is "Billy Jack" - with Howard Hesseman and Tom Laughlin. If my freaking parents would've just waited for doing the donkey or whatever, it would've been "The Godfather".
Oh shit, I did that wrong:
It's "Summer of '42".
Sooo... yeah...
The closest one listed on that site is a Disney flick called "Follow Me Boys" starring Kurt Russell and Fred MacMurray. Woogah!
sybil: thats freaky.. i was just looking up Billy Jack right before i posted.
earl: coincidentally, thats ALSO what you yell out to the truckers at rest stops....
MINE: Blazing Saddles.
HA ! Cool Hand Luke !!
Fuck with ME, will ya ?
meleah: possibly my favorite comedy ever :)
heff: you cool fuck you....
Show Boat, but I'm just a few days before The Day The Earth Stood Still. Much cooler.
Death Wish.
sk: agreed.. much cooler.
badger: see, now THAT'S fucking cool...
It appears that 1957 was a good year for film. My film is "The Red Balloon". Lotus07 loves himself some foreign cinema. Movie of the year was "Bridge of the River Kwai". David Lean RULES baby. (jeeez, Earl is that old?)
Quite a few round the same time....the one I recognise is "Blazing Saddles" :)
Mine was 'Cat on a Hot Tin Roof'...lol
Hey I got the egg roll thing too!
lotus: wow, i havent seen "bridge" in ages... i think i might need to netflix it.
nat: "howard johnston is right!"
chris: another classic..
jill: really? when is your birthday? we're the same age! :)
Mine was:
It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World.
Go figure.
My birthday is in August - yes, I think same movie year makes us the same age! :-)
Ok, I know this is an old post, but you're my obsession this week. My movie was "The Island" which is cool cause I have a pirate tattoo. But four days later, as I was leaving the hospital - "The Blues Brothers" was released, and I really think that movie is more "me."
you really ARE digging in the archives, arent you?
well, i agree.. BB is much cooler to say than The Island :)
