At Least They're Honest About It...

I really don't have the energy to start a rant today about BP and how disgusting this whole situation is.

Let's just all agree that so far they have already caused enough ecological damage that experts say it will take decades to correct, if ever.

No, I'll let others more smartererer than me rage against that particular machine.

I know that although you guys FIRST came here solely for my killer looks, you KEEP coming back not because of my world views, but because I try my damnedest to give you a chuckle or two.

So, in that effort, check out an honest to goodness REAL BP advertisement from 1999:

If their underwater pipeline of toxic death weren't killing us all as we speak, that ad would be pretty fucking funny right now.

Still. That's pretty damn funny anyway. Funny in an "awww damn" kinda way.

I suppose at least they've lived up to their mantra. Right? Yeah, right. Sorry about the British bit. Wish I could just call them Petroleum Maniacs.

You realize I won't be able to rest until I know what Earl could have written that would make you remove it, right?

Anyhoo, I volunteered to go help with the clean up. Signed up at several sites, and every one of them turned me down! Said only residents of the state were being used. I tried to sign my company up (trackhoes, bulldozers, dumptrucks, etc), same thing! I can't figure it out.

lol! i actually removed it by accident. (although hell never beleive that).

He actually said that the ad, which i had read was legit, is just a hoax.

i guess there goes my pullitzer...

You removed it by accident? Really?

There's two steps to removing someone's comment. First you click the garbage button, then it asks you if you really want to delete the message.

So you did BOTH of those things by accident? Yeah...right.

The whole thing is poopy. That's a nice way of saying shitty....but I have stronger language than that, even. I'm just trying to be nice.

The BP story is just shocking. That ad is pretty funny though, whether it's real or not.

I don't know if I will write my own blog about this or just post a comment here....heck I might to both.

While this whole BP spill is a colossal cluster fuck, there is another side of the coin that we are overlooking.

This sort of shit just happens in nature all the time. A volcano blow up and spewes ash all over the globe, causing all sorts of problems....no one to blame...it just happens.

An earthquake occurs and opens up a fisure on the sea floor that starts seeking oil.....no ones fault. The oil is there. BP accidently let it out, but it was probably going to come out sooner or later, if not by our hand, by an act of god.

Even goats and cows shit in the Garden of Eden. We are a dirty species and we like to mess things up. BP has just accelerated the process. I don't see anyone railing against Walmart for putting 10 billion non-bio-degradable plastic shopping bags in land fills.....but I suppose they would if it interferred with some good ole boys cray fishing or water skiing.

If you want to get angry, don't just focus on BP, but all the other multi-conglomerates that trick you into wanting things that aren't good for you, like oil, twinkies and Brittany Spears.

bruce: i agree with you, wholeheartedly.

except about Britney Spears. She's the shit.

It's still funny....in a horrible, sick, twisted sense of humor way.

Kinda like the sick, twisted sense of humors emergency room doctors have....and those guys on the tv show MASH. You have to laugh...otherwise, you want to cry.
