Contrary to the banner picture, this is NOT a post about Rocky Balboa.Interesting side note though: Being a child of the 80’s, and a dude, I grew up on the Rocky movies. Whenever I knew I was soon to be getting into a fight in high school (which was pretty damn often… other kids tend to like to punch smartasses), I would play “Eye of the Tiger” on my cassette player over and over again while I worked out in my basement to psych myself up for it. Pretty lame, I know, but I’m still here to talk about it so I guess there IS something to be said about being confident in the face of someone wanting to knock your head off.
I seem to drift off more and more in my old age… What the Hell was I talking about again?
Oh yeah.
Mini-Me just completed his first T-Ball season. I’m so proud of the little guy… I honestly didn’t think he’d take to it, but he seemed to really enjoy it.
… and collecting rocks.
For SOME reason, he would completely ignore the game, and search the outfield for any manner of rock or pebble he could find…. the bigger the better. Then he would proceed to shove them down his pants pockets.
By the 3rd inning, he usually had enough rocks in his pants that he could barely move.
When it was his turn to bat, he was more concerned about not losing any of his rocks than actually hitting the ball.
After he did finally manage to hit the ball, he would start running around the bases, but his pants were so heavy with rocks that he would have to hold them up while he ran.
After a few times of this, the crowd started chanting “ROCKY! ROCKY!”, every time he got up to bat.
He kinda became the team mascot. The crowd would woop it up and chant “Rocky!” every time he took to the field….
… and he loved every minute of it.
I’m not sure if I managed to get any video of him actually running around the bases with 40 pounds of rocks in his pants, but I’ll look.

30 People Are Stalking Me:
HHAAHAHAHAHA!
He is the cutest little guy ever!!
I love the Rocky nick name!
My God! A child of yours playing baseball?
I love it!
WOOOHOOO!! GOO MINI ME GO!!!
Yeah, so true. Kids.not.paying.attention.
Becoming obessessed with found objects, staring at the ceiling, doing handstands in the outfield, sittind down and messing with dandelions.
pay no attention to the game that is going on.
my favorite is soccer games when teh entire game STOPS because a train goes by. :)
kids are fun.
so cool the mini-me!!
Awww! That is such a cute story. I'm sure he's going to be thrilled when you retell it at his college graduation party. :)
Time flies by.
My little guy is 16 today.
Aw! That's a super cute picture!
Aw, look at that expression of clueless ambition on his face. Hopefully he can hold on to that as he gets older. I know I tried to.
Very cute - and a sweet story, too.
ROFL! Awesome! Too funny that the crowd picked up on what he was doing and cheered him on!
That's hilarious. And I can relate, rocks are great to hold.
Oh my f-ing god. That child is gorgeous - as if he couldn't be with a dad like you, right?
But that story made me fall a little in love with him :) nothing cuter than a kid who would rather pick rocks than worry about the ball game.
Thats not how you play Tball?
I swear, there is nothing better than watching kids who don't give a crap play t-ball! I laugh so hard because they are so cute! They look up at the sky, watch other games going on, the girls pick flowers or look for 4 leaf clovers. They use their gloves to "sweep" the dirt, and yes, collect rocks. I LOVE this!!!
And what a cutie he is! Should have had some rocks in his hand for the picture though! LOL
Mini me is adorable and looks a lot like his dad!
I'm just saying!!!
Da na naaa - na na naaa...Da na naaaa...na na naaa. Yo Adrian, help me get my rocks!
Everywhere we go on vacation, I find rocks. And that means, every time I do the laundry after vacation, inevitably, one or two can be heard bouncing around in the dryer.
My nephew used to pick daisies and such when on the soccer team. I've got pictures of it...and he hates it! :-)
What a spunk! Gotta love (kids) team sports where only half the team are actually paying attention to the game or what their team mates are doing. Go Rocky!!!!
so frakkin' adorable!! i loves me a kid who loves him some rocks!
So freaking cute - I love it!
Your wee man is very cute.
I almost called my new car Rocky.. but went with ROXY instead. I crashed my new car today. Details on tomorrows blog post.
I just thought you were a sexy-G6-driving sexy dude.
And now I find out you're a sexy-G6-driving DILF!
the kid is adorable!
Funny how they started calling him Rocky!
When my son played his first T-ball game he ran from home to second base after hitting the ball. Poor kid, we all laughed our asses off!
That is so freaking cute. Thanks for the smile.
I LOVE the background on that picture! Ours are just the dirty old field.
and I'm glad your kid chose rocks to occupy himself instead of picking his nose like some of ours do.
He's just adorable!
This season is going to make for great memories for years to come. What a cutie he is!
He has such a cute face.
I laughed when I read the label to this post.
He's so cute!!!
The rock thing reminds me of my girls. Whereever they go, they always bring back rocks. And then they try to give them to me.
Yeah - I actually kept them for awhile. Now, I just accept it and smile, and then when they're not looking, I throw it in the garden.
Well, at least he got to become the unofficial team mascot. All I got when I picked dandelions while playing soccer as a kid were ... well ... dandelions. Go, Rocky, go!
