This Old House, Part 2

Hey kiddies!

As i said last week, I am in a training class all week, which is why i haven't been able to get to all of your lovely blogs.

I WAS able to sneak out alittle early today, however. I wanted to get home so i could have a word with some of the big, burly, construction men who are working on the house.

You all remember the pic i showed you last week, don't ya? If not, you have got a damn short memory. You should really have that shit checked, ya know?

Anyway, i thought you might be interested to see how things looked as of Friday night. In this picture, you can see the peaks that we built on top.

At this point they had started to pull out the windows, and already took down the door.

See? it DOES look alittle like a fake house, doesn't it? Well, it does to me. Bite me.

Anyway, the picture below is what my house looked like as of last night. The new door and extended window have been put in. Plus we have now run all the electrical cables and outdoor lights.
I've got some people working on the siding now. After that, the rest is all easy-peasy-lemon-squeezy stuff.

I just read this back, and i fully realize that i am not being my usual, extremely hilarious self. What can i say? I'm dead tired. I actually nodded off in class for a few minutes this morning.

All i need is a nice relaxing weekend and I'll be right as rain come next week. You'll see.

This is one of the many reasons I rent.

We did major remodeling in the summer of 2007. We had construction people here for nearly a month. It's very draining, but the results are worth it!

Its a really cute house

I wish remodeling was that easy here - we don't have dry-wall buildings or timber frame houses. Everything is solid brick and mortar, so it would takes months to extend a house.

Looks really good. All the best with the brain-draining training!

I LOVE it!!!! Can't wait to see the finished product! Your wife is so lucky to have you. I wonder if she would mind sharing????

Is that your son's tree house on the back right??? Did you build it?

Three day weekend coming up. GET SOME REST!

Are the big, burly construction men sexy? I mean...does one of them have big arms and a tight round butt...with just a little sweat glistening across him...

Maybe is his name...I don't know...something sexy like...Jake. Jake the construction worker, who really writes poetry and short stories, but he's gotta do something to make ends meet...

And sometimes does Jake take off his shirt, if he gets too hot? But when he takes it off...it's all like in...slow motion and stuff?

No?

I wouldn't have thought so either.

Don't worry. This post was about as funny as the stuff you normally post. Which is to say...not.

I like your house!

I may have to ride around Long Island looking for it. You know, not in a stalkerish kinda way. I just want to say hello is all!!!

I envy you being able to do this, although rennos are a pain in the ass. Glad I'm renting.

It's looking good though!

It's always good to have doors. Keeps people from walking in. *nodding intently* :D

Btw, I'm planning to post my thoughts on the Star Trek movie soon. Can't wait to hear the arguments that will start! :D And I can't believe you picked fixing a house over seeing that! I went on Mother's Day at 10:30pm...cuz that's how geezer geeks like Paladin and me roll! lol

I had to go back and see the picture of the house before the peaks - this looks awesome! Did you and the wifey figure this out or did you have architectural assistance? I think this really is a fantastic improvement that modernizes, yet still has a classic look. I'm so jealous and wish I could do something like this with my home. I know it is hard to live in a home during renovations though so hopefully it isn't too aggravating for you guys. Anyway, I think it will be well worth it. :)

teeni: this whole thing was all the wifes idea and design. Its almost done now and i have to say it looks outstanding. I'll try to put up another picture once the gutters are in.

You should have just been different and leave the siding off, so that the Tivek siding logo is everywhere. It would really piss of the neighbors.

bruce: maybe i could have gotten money for promoting them?
